Vic: Plane lands on golf fairway

MELBOURNE, April 11 AAP - A Cessna aircraft on a training flight made an emergency
landing at one of Melbourne's most exclusive golf clubs today.

The Cessna 152, owned by the Royal Victorian Aero Club, was on a training flight out
of Moorabbin Airport when its engine failed.

Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) spokesman Trevor Woodward said the plane landed on
the 12th fairway of the Capital Golf Course at Heatherton in Melbourne's southeast at
about 12.20pm (AEST).

Capital, which is used almost exclusively by high-rollers at Melbourne's Crown Casino,
is opposite the Airport.

Mr Woodward said the MFB was first informed of the incident by the Moorabbin Airport
tower, by which stage the plane had already landed safely.

"Everything has happened very quickly," he said.

The Royal Victorian Aero Club said the Cessna was on a training flight and the two
people on board were uninjured.

The plane was not damaged.

The aero club would not say if a trainee was in control of the plane when it landed.
