VIC:Hungry Jacks fined for underpaying staff=2

On Wednesday, the General Manager of Competitive Foods Australia, Ian Parker, said
Hungry Jack's had not deliberately cheated its employees.

He said the underpayment occurred when Hungry Jack's Tasmanian workplace agreement,
negotiated with the Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association (SDA), was not
certified by the Tasmanian workplace authority.

"Once we became aware that the Tasmanian SDA agreement had not been certified, steps
were immediately taken to back pay employees under a different award," Mr Parker said.

"Hungry Jack's takes its responsibilities as an employer very seriously and we are
proud of our previously unblemished record as a major employer for more than 30 years."
