MOTOR-VOTER LAW DUCKS CHALLENGE.(MAIN)

WASHINGTON The Supreme Court Monday rejected California Gov. Pete Wilson's constitutional challenge to a federal law that requires states to provide voter registration at motor vehicle offices.

The high court refused to hear an argument advanced by several states that the law infringes states' rights.

The court's action effectively ensures that the motor-voter law, intended to boost overall registration, will be in place through the 1996 elections.
