NT: CLP warns all of Australia could become Labor

The Northern Territory's Country Liberal Party has warned voters that the territory
could become the last conservative bastion, with the federal government and South Australia
soon falling to Labor.

The warning spearheads the CLP's television advertising campaign which began yesterday
following the announcement that territorians would go to the polls on August 18.

In the ad, a CLP spokesman says Labor could soon control Canberra and every state of
Australia, putting at risk the territory's tough anti-social behaviour laws and mandatory
sentencing.

Opposition Leader CLARE MARTIN says the ads surrender the federal and South Australian
governments to Labor.

She says South Australian Premier JOHN OLSEN and Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD would be
interested in the attitude of their colleagues in the territory.

But Chief Minister DENIS BURKE says Mr HOWARD and Mr OLSEN would agree with the ad.
