MISSION VIEJO, Calif., Jan. 14 -- The city of Mission Viejo issued the following news release:
Parents and caregivers are invited to a special presentation on Jan. 20 that will focus on a growing problem among kids.
The presentation dubbed "Bullying: The Not So Silent Danger" is from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Phillip J. Reilly Elementary School multi-purpose room at 24171 Pavion.
The program, hosted by the school's PTA and Mission Viejo Police Services, will focus on recognizing and preventing bullying. According to Mission Viejo Crime Prevention Specialist Tammy Descoteaux, bullying generally starts in elementary grades and if not dealt with, can have serious consequences in adulthood. School Resource Officer Deputy Carla Kerr will also discuss how the Internet can be a dangerous playground with eye-opening social behavior parents should be aware of.
The evening includes singer-songwriter Sarah Lonsert, who will discuss the subject from a child's perspective.
